channeling a divine being

I read on a Chinese Buddhist website about the three possibilities that the entity that a person channels may not be a celestial being, although the entity proclaims itself to be.  The three possibilities are

1) an evil spirit, or ghost, or whatever you want to label it as;
2) someone who wishes to use the identity of a celestial being to do certain things; and
3) the channeler's subconscious mind's personification of an entity.

The fourth possibility is that the entity whom the person channels is indeed a celestial being.

The website mentions different ways to discern, but the basic idea is really to have a balance of both intellect and intuition, as they serve as checks and balances for everything we encounter in this physical dimension.

One distinction that that website did not mention, is ego.  This comes with experience, and I suppose that author did not have the "honour" of experiencing all four possibilities.  ^_^

Anyone who is not from the purest of love and light would have an ego.  Ego is not arrogance.  Ego is the concept of I, me, my, mine, etc.  A divine being, coming from the place of oneness, will not have an ego, although it will have a personality.

Everyone's experience with divinity will be different, even though we are all experiencing the same divine being.  Similarly, person A may think that person B is a very sweet girl, yet person C thinks that person B is a bitch.

All of our experiences are valid.  Everyone is unique, and thus our experiences and perspectives shall be unique.

This need not be a cause for concern.  As long as you practice spiritual hygiene, you will only channel the entity that you allow yourself to.
